Afro Soul Singer "Juiciy ML" Has 'Nothing to Hide'
The latest musical sensation from Nigeria born singer Juiciy ML is celebrating the official release of his new Single, “Favours”, which has already seen double-platinum success in South Africa.
Born to an Islamic family in Nigeria, the 19-year-old singer-songwriter has experienced his share of hardship and pain.
As a youngster, Juiciy was sent to foster care after seeing his mother descend into heroin addiction. He says his experiences have influenced the openness that many have come to appreciate about his music.
"When I started singing about my life ... suddenly, it was my own voice," Juiciy says.
That voice works in a soulful and eclectic mixture of genres.
"I call it Afro Soul," he says, referring to a mix of reggae, R&B and folk sounds. "You can't really name it. ... It's like a big mix."
The mix seems to come naturally to Juicy and that helped foster his appreciation for a range of artists, from Oxlade to Omah Lay to Fireboy DML.
In addition to the breakout success of his first debut album, Juiciy ML is experiencing the hard ship in making musics.
Here, Juiciy performs Favours and talks about his plans to take the music world by storm.
